Drywall Repair

Drywall Repair & Painting

Holes, cracks, nail pops, and water-stained ceilings repaired, textured to match, and repainted, so the repair disappears instead of announcing itself.

The Problem

A bad patch is more obvious than the hole was

Drywall repair fails visually in two places: the feather edge and the texture. A patch that is not floated wide enough leaves a visible bump under side light, and knockdown or orange peel that does not match the surrounding wall reads as a rectangle from across the room.

Painting only the patch instead of the full wall guarantees you see it, because even the same paint from the same can flashes differently over new mud.

How we make a repair disappear

The goal is that you cannot find the repair afterward without being told where it was.

  • Damage cut back to sound material and backed properly
  • Multiple mud coats, each floated wider than the last
  • Sanding to a feathered edge, not a ridge
  • Texture matched to the surrounding surface, not approximated
  • Primer over all new mud to stop flashing
  • Paint carried to a natural break so there is no halo

What we repair

Doorknob holes, furniture damage, and accidental impacts. Settlement cracks at corners and above doorways. Nail pops across a ceiling. Water-stained ceilings after a leak has been fixed. Popped tape joints and corner bead damage.

One honest caveat: we are painters who repair drywall, not a restoration company. If the source of a water stain is still active, that has to be fixed first. We will tell you when the surface is not the actual problem.

Repairs before a repaint

Most drywall repair we do is part of a larger interior repaint, and that is the cheapest way to buy it. The crew is already protecting the room and already painting the wall, so the incremental cost of the repair is only the repair itself.

How It Works

What the project actually looks like

  1. STEP 01

    Diagnose the damage

We identify whether it is impact, settlement, fastener, or moisture, because the repair for each is different and moisture needs a source fix first.

  2. STEP 02

    Repair, float, texture

Cut back, back the opening, mud in coats, sand feathered, and match the existing texture before any paint.

  3. STEP 03

    Prime and repaint

New mud is primed, then paint is carried to a natural break in the wall so the repair is invisible under normal light.

Price Factors

What moves the price

We do not publish a price list, because a real number depends on your property. These are the things that actually change it, and every one of them shows up as a line item on your estimate.

  • Size and number of repairs

Ten small nail pops and one large hole are very different labor profiles.

  • Texture type

Smooth walls, orange peel, and heavy knockdown each take a different amount of skill and passes to match.

  • Ceiling versus wall

Overhead work is slower, and ceiling texture is harder to match invisibly.

  • Paint extent

Whether we repaint the patch area, the full wall, or the room changes both cost and how well the repair hides.

  • Cause of damage

Water damage may need stain-blocking primer and confirmation that the source is resolved.

  • Access

High ceilings, stairwells, and tight spaces need equipment and add time.
